Matthew is a classically trained tenor. His opera roles include The Sorcerer (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell), the Young Grenadier in the Conservatoire's acclaimed production of War and Peace (Prokofiev), and Brother Elixer from Betrothal in a Monastery by the same composer.
He sang the role of Gerontius in Elgar's Dream of Gerontius for Arts in Autumn 2012, and has premiered many modern compositions, including The Hound of Heaven (Dr A. Ewing, 2010) and Tidemarks (S. Parry-John, 2012).
Matthew completed an HND in music at Stevenson College Edinburgh, where he was awarded Best Advanced Music Student. In 2008 he was accepted to the Vocal Studies course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating with honours in 2012.
